Our oldest daughter does most of the crocheting, working through patterns, stitch counts, shaping, assembly, and all the small finishing details that give each piece its personality.
Crafts
Handmade projects built one skill at a time.
Crafting gives the kids a place to practice patience, planning, fine-motor skills, problem solving, and the satisfaction of finishing something by hand. Our oldest daughter does most of the crochet work, while the two younger kids spend more of their craft time needle felting. Our younger daughter has also been learning to whittle small wooden pieces, sometimes finishing them with paint.
Some finished pieces come with us to local sales when they are available, while others are gifts, experiments, or simply part of learning a new technique.

Needle felting
Mostly made by our two younger kids
Our two younger kids do most of the needle felting, building small figures and scenes by layering wool, shaping forms, and slowly adding tiny details.
Whittling
Hand-carved wooden pieces
Our younger daughter has been learning to whittle small wooden figures by hand, then sanding and sometimes painting them to bring the carved shapes to life.
